As a basis for understanding this concept: 1.a. Students know solids, liquids, and gases have different properties. Objectives: Students will work in groups of three. Tip: Name each member Solid, Liquid, or Gas. Be clear about who gets to go first, second, third when it comes time to use the iPads. They will listen to a brief introduction by the teacher about the three states of matter, mass, and mixtures. They will use QR codes to link to two different songs about the three states of matter as well as a Quizlet vocabulary site with flashcards and games. Students will also create a book using the Book Creator app that describes the three states of matter and includes pictures. Have students focus on the Scatter game for Quizlet and demonstrate that game. Procedure: Students spend about 15 minutes scanning and learning. Get the attention of the students and show them the Book Creator app. Student groups are to make a book of at least three pages. Book must include photographs or drawings of each of the three states of matter. Students can record their voices to tell their stories. Books can be emailed to parents via pdf or epub.
