David Wilson

David Wilson is a professor of Geography and African American Studies at the University
of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His research interests include the political economy of
U.S. cities, urban political processes, cultural studies of U.S. cities, social theory and the
built environment and qualitative methods. He is the author of Urban Inequalities Across
the Globe (2014) and Finding the New Urban Frontier: America's New Redevelopment
Machine (submitted for publication).
Professor Wilson received his B.A. from SUNY Albany in 1978, his M.A. from Temple
University in 1983 and his Ph.D. from Rutgers in 1985. He taught at Rutgers and Indiana
University and came to the University of Illinois in 1990.
