Job purpose
On the appointment of Prof David Galbreath as Leadership Fellow for the Conflict Theme
within the Arts and Humanities Research Council-Economic and Social Research CouncilEngineering and Physical Sciences Research Council Partnership for Conflict, Crime and
Security (PACCS), the role of Research Assistant is to support Prof Galbreath for his
thematic and research fellow responsibilities. The Research Assistant will be expected to
contribute both administrative and intellectual support to the Fellow and Conflict Theme.

Main duties and responsibilities
1
Contribute to the strategic vision of the theme
2
Involve with the outward-facing elements of the theme
3
Support project set-up
4
Support Project groups
5
Oversee project administration and ensure financial and admin procedures in place
6
Manage the project plan and propose changes as required
7
Effective communication strategies developed within the team and with partners
8
Support organisation of meetings and events
9
Co-ordinate the project partners in aspects of meetings, providing timely reports and
staying within agreed tolerances
10 Liaising with the funder in relation to the project requirements
11 Organising meetings, preparing papers
12 Producing agendas and taking Minutes
13 Maintaining contacts lists
14 Website management and updates
15 Events organisation
16 Publicity and impact support
17 Support to draft reports
18 Maintaining records

Experience/Knowledge
Relevant work experience in a related area to the project
Demonstrates depth and breadth of specialist knowledge of
subject matter to effectively contribute to the Fellowship
programme
Demonstrates awareness of latest developments in the field
of conflict research
Skills
Ability to plan and coordinate events and activities
Ability to organise and prioritise own workload
Ability to write research reports and to effectively
disseminate outcomes
Ability to organise and maintain budgets
Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication

Highly competent in IT packages appropriate to
discipline/area of research

A first degree in the area(s) of conflict, security or a related
