Variability.
Some students need models to solve
problems while others can visualize
it.
Strengths.
Some students are good at logical
reasoning, they can make insightful
deductions and solve complex
problems some cannot.
Challenges.
Some students experience panic,
become restless when given math
tasks.
Interests.
Some students are passionate in
different areas of math for example
real life application.
Perspective.
Some students have different ideas
on their abilities based on personal
beliefs.
Reducing barriers
Use different problem-solving
techniques used by students and
allow them share.
Display students achievements like
on a board. Allow peers acknowledge
such strengths either as a class or in
their circles.
Display tips and resources
highlighting how to overcome
common math challenges.
Exposure to opportunities for
exploring math outside the
classroom for example in clubs, hand
on activities, competitions.
Generate discussions on how
cultural perspectives shape our
understanding and appreciation of
math for example feature cultural,
historical and various contributions
to math.
