Position Title : Graduate Assistant – Program Assistant

Reports to : Genevieve Beecher, Associate Director for International Students and Scholars

Terms of Employment :

For the fall semester: 20 hours per week, beginning August 24, 2015 and ending

December 18, 2015. Does not include the week of Thanksgiving Break.

For the spring semester: 20 hours per week, beginning January 11, 2016 and ending

May 6, 2016. Does not include the week of Spring Break.

Must be available 4 hours/day usually Monday-Friday; however, weekend hours may be worked instead of weekday hours as needed.

Compensation :

The 2015-16 salary is $4,920 per semester. Salary is prorated weekly for late start.

Graduate Assistants receive University holidays and do not work during Thanksgiving

Break, Spring Break, or the interims between semesters.

Position Description :

 Develop and implement social, cultural, recreational, and informational programs for

UNI international student population

 Assist with the development and implementation of programming for International

Education Week

 Update and assist with social media marketing and publications for programs and events

Create and distribute surveys and questionnaires for written reports

 Assist with other duties as assigned

Qualifications :

Must be a full-time, degree-seeking student in a UNI graduate program. Postsecondary

Education: Student Affairs is preferred.

Must be enrolled in at least 9 graduate credits each semester of assistantship.

Maintain a Plan GPA of at least 3.00. First semester graduate students must have an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.00.

Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of students.

Social media skills including Facebook, Twitter, and others.

Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.

 Time management skills.

Strong computer skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher.

 Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new technology.
